More Phoeinx Imperative

I am happy to inform you that two new episodes of The Pheonix Imperative are available for your reading pleasure :)  With a little luck, I may have another one up in less than 24 hours.

Episode Two: Awakening

Episode Three: A Lone Wanderer

Remember to choose "Full Size" from the drop down menu, or it will be all blurry, and we hates blurry we do!  Gollum! Gollum!

  1. Of all the companions that come with RR Vault, Maeva always stood out, mostly because of her size. But I like tall women, so that didn't hurt. Her eyes, long red hair and attitude just sort of complete the package for me :)

Besides, we need at least one red head in the story to keep Nos happy ;)

  2. Well, these seem like good updates.

I'm still not sure those red pin-prick eye textures turned out so well... but that's an argument I've been having with myself since I ran up the first draft at Herculine's suggestion.

Anyway, I have to confess it's also a little surreal seeing one of my characters written by someone else. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you did a bad job or anything of the sort -- I just never really thought any of them would ever be popular enough to warrant such a thing.

Regardless, definitely interested to read more when you get it ready. No rush though; I know creativity takes time.

  3. The job you did with the eyes was good enough to have people noticing Cameron when I first started posting screens of her on the Nexus back in October or November. That level of difference and creepiness helped bring some people onboard with the project.

Maeva caught my eye the first time I ran into her. Her height and her eyes sold me on her, and the hair and attitude didn't hurt none either ;) One of my other Nexus friends recognized her right away, and she's eagerly awaiting the chaos and carnage that Maeva will bring to the story. Maeva will have one of the largest non "guest star" parts in the story for quite some time.

  4. The first companions I picked up on my first playthrough were Jill and Maeva. I was instantly impressed by the big Irish redhead in her spiked armor because she breaks the Barbie-doll-companion trend that seems so prevalent in these games. She'll always be among my faves.

  5. Maeva breaks more than just trends ;)

I think Cameron has a similar appeal. Her eyes make her rather creepy looking, but not completely unattractive. She also doesn't run around dressed in tight, skimpy outfits, expecting her weapons of mass distraction to tip the balance in here favour. She dresses appropriately for the occasion (usually some sort of armour), complete with accessories (read: weapons). The concept of dressing sexy is completely alien to her, at least for herself.

It should be interesting to she what happens when Cameron and Maeva first meet each other.

  6. The phrase: "Clash of the Titans" comes to mind...

...but then thoughts of lame movies follow, so nevermind...

  7. Lol! There will be an episode where Cameron and Maeve do fight each other. It is something I've was planning on quite a while ago. I've also got a growing list of deaths too...

  8. I was going to profess my opinion of how none of my companions come out as Barbie doll types... but as I was loading the washing machine and laying out the comment in my head (what? The world would be a much better place if more people thought before they spoke or typed) I had a vision forcibly assert itself into my mind.

A young, svelte, girl; carefully groomed blonde tresses swaying in the breeze, immaculate in her princess-dress... standing in front of a pile of corpses, a still-smoking autorifle in hand. The subtitle?

"Tee hee, gun fighting is fun."

Some days, I really think I need professional psychiatric aid.

Also: don't mention a Maeva/Cameron fight. You'll tempt me into throwing together an update plugin to send you that has the current script and combat style my Maeva runs on, just to stack the odds in the favor of my favorite demoness.

  9. "Tee hee, gun fighting is fun."

Lmao! I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I first read that! I think "Oops, I did it again" would work as well ;)

Maeva/Cameron fight? Did I mention a Maeva vs Cameron senario? Nah, I couldn't have said anything about Cameron fighting Maeva. Nope, not me...

    Can I haz updated pwug-in now? =D

    *runs for cover*

  10. Actually, that might not be the best of ideas.

I remembered after hitting post that I never finished working the bugs out of my revolutionary combat rework.

Last version of the plugin had them refusing to enter combat at all.

Stupid engine, repressing my genius. They'll all rue the day...

    *ahem*

Sorry, what was I saying? Oh, right, I really need to add some more time to the dryer.
